Established in 1934, Foundations Preschool of Washtenaw County has been a pioneer in childcare and family support services. We are committed to increasing accessibility to equitable, high-quality care and early education for underserved and historically marginalized families.
Our model dismantles barriers families face accessing care, empowering them to work or attend school with reliable, full-time childcare. To maximize our impact, Foundations offers tuition scholarships, free meals and snacks, navigation of family assistance programs, a supplemental food pantry, translation services, and socio-emotional support and referrals. Foundations also collaborates with local nonprofits to connect families with additional community resources. We partner with families, offering holistic assistance for their distinct situations. Foundations envisions a community where all families have their unique needs understood, valued, and met.
Ways to Give
There are many ways to make a positive impact in the lives of those we serve.

Tribute Gift
Tribute gifts are a thoughtful way to honor or remember a loved one or show gratitude for a notable achievement in your or someone else’s life. A memorial gift is a meaningful way to remember a loved one who has passed away by making a contribution in their name. An honor gift (in honor of) is a way to mark special occasions (anniversaries, birthdays, graduations) or to pay tribute to an individual who has made a difference in your life. When you make a tribute gift, Foundations Preschool will send a letter to the family members or person you are recognizing, acknowledging your thoughtful gift.
Wish Lists
In addition to monetary contributions, Foundations Preschool accepts new items that help the children and families we serve. When making a donation of goods or services, please complete our Gift In Kind form and bring it with your donation. All items are to be new.
Gift a Wish 2024
As a part of our Parent Empowerment Program, we strive to ensure that all parents can purchase toys and clothing that they know will make their children happy. After all, it’s the parent who knows best how to bring a smile to their little one’s face! During the Holiday Season, we partner with community organizations, businesses, and individuals to provide gift cards to our families.

Endowment Fund
There are three pieces to the financial stability puzzle:
Proper management of day-to-day financial operations
Year after year, Foundations Preschool sets realistic budgetary goals and the audited financial operations yield positive results.
Endowment Fund
The time has come to complete the financial stability puzzle. An endowment fund will allow us to endure a stable source of funding for the future of our organization.
Healthy financial reserves
Foundations Preschool has surpassed the recommended reserve of a 3-6 month financial cushion. This is short-term protection in the event of an emergency.
